Parents and community members will have their say tonight on how to improve the embattled Toronto District School Board.

A community consultation meeting will be held at the Toronto Central YMCA at 20 Grosvenor St. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The TDSB Governance Advisory Panel will lead discussions on how the structure of the board can be improved to better serve parents and students and what can be done to increase public confidence in the TDSB.

The seven-member panel was appointed by the province following Margaret Wilson's scathing report on the country's largest school board. Trustees were accused of meddling in day-to-day operations and creating a "culture of fear."

Public meetings will be held until the end of May and members of the community can register to attend a session or submit feedback online by visiting the consultations website.

The panel, which is chaired by former Toronto mayor Barbara Hall, will report back to Ontario's Education Minister Liz Sandals with their recommendations at the end of the summer.
