Toronto police say they are investigating after a male walked into a hospital trauma centre with a gunshot wound on Saturday night.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said that investigators believe the male was shot in the area of Shuter and Sackville streets sometime before 9:30 p.m.

Police say the male walked into St. Michael's Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officers are at the scene searching for evidence of gunshots fired in the area.

The victim's injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
