A man wanted in a string of sexual assaults and thefts in midtown Toronto has been arrested and charged.

Police allege that three separate incidents involving the same man took place at 5:45 a.m., 5:50 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. Wednesday morning near Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue.

In the first incident, police say the man approached a 52-year-old woman, assaulted her and fled when she screamed for help.

Five minutes later, the man attacked a 32-year-old woman by throwing her to the ground, police said in a news release. Police also allege the suspect took the woman’s personal property and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.

An hour later, police say the man grabbed a 46-year-old woman from behind, forced her into a building lobby and then the elevator. The woman was assaulted and had her personal property stolen from her, police said.

Police believe there may be more victims.

"We don't think he was resting," during the one-hour gap between the second and third incidents, Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said.

The man and the women all live in the vicinity, Sidhu said.

Robert Shah, 33, of Toronto has been charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, two counts of assault and two counts of robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-7474, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
