A man was stabbed repeatedly in the face and neck in Whitby this weekend and police say they’ve charged an Etobicoke man in connection with the incident.

The incident happened at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday outside a bar near Brock Street South and Dundas Street. The 23-year-old victim was accompanied by two friends when a man they didn't know approached and began to argue. A fight broke out and the victim was stabbed multiple times.

The man was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre where he was treated for serious injuries, Durham Regional Police said.

With the help of Toronto police, authorities arrested a suspect in connection with the case at a home in Etobicoke Saturday night.

Geran Williams, 30, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.
