ORANGEVILLE, Ont. -- A man facing a murder charge in the death of a Toronto woman is to appear in court today in Orangeville.

Christopher Andronakos, 35, was arrested late last month in Calgary and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Kera Freeland.

Andronakos was transported to Ontario on Feb. 1 and appeared in a Brampton court the following day.

Freeland, 20, was last seen in Toronto on Jan. 16, 2011, and her body was discovered two months later in a ditch in Caledon, about 70 kilometres to the northwest.

Based on evidence obtained from the autopsy, investigators believe she died around the time of her disappearance.

Police say her death was treated as suspicious at the time and was later determined to be a homicide.
