Toronto police have charged a man after a woman was allegedly knocked to the ground and sexually assaulted after exiting a streetcar in Leslieville earlier this week.

Police say the sexual assault took place April 14 at around 5:20 a.m. in the Queen Street East and Jones Avenue area.

Police said a woman had just exited a streetcar in the area when a man grabbed her from behind, knocked her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

Following the incident, police released a description of the suspect along with security camera images.

In a news release Friday, police said that they made an arrest in the case on April 16.

Tenzing Gyalpo, 33, of Toronto, has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He was scheduled to make a court appearance April 17.

Police said they believe there may be other victims.
