Toronto police say a man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a man was found dead at a home in Scarborough Saturday.

Police were called to the home on Pharmacy Avenue, south of St. Clair Avenue East, at around 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.

When officers entered the home, they found a man suffering from obvious signs of trauma, police said in a news release Sunday. The man, who has not been identified, was declared dead at the scene.

While homicide investigators were called in Saturday, police did not immediately classify the man’s death as a homicide. A cause of death has not yet been determined and an autopsy of the victim is scheduled to be conducted on Monday.

Police said Sunday that a 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the man’s death on Feb. 28.

Shafaq Joya, 30, of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder, police said.

He is scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.
