Police have charged a man accused of recording or attempting to record images of a woman in a University of Toronto washroom.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims after the woman reported the incident to police this week.

In a news release, police said the woman was the victim in a case of voyeurism in the women’s washroom in the basement of University College, at 15 King’s College Circle, on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The woman told police she was in one of the stalls when she noticed an iPhone facing her from under the stall.

She asked the male holding the phone what he was doing, at which time the iPhone was pulled back, police said.

A male suspect was arrested a short time later by U of T campus police officers.

Police said Liang He, 23, of Toronto is charged with voyeurism (observing or recording activity) and mischief (willfully interrupting the use, enjoyment or operation of property).

He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 416-808-5204 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Woman assaulted in bathroom: police

This is the second time in as many months a male has been charged in connection with an incident in a U of T washroom.

In July, a 19-year-old woman told police she was lured to a bathroom, assaulted and confined by a male.

In that incident, Muhammad Umair Jafar, 21, was charged with forcible confinement, assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
