A motorcyclist is dead following a crash on Steeles Avenue Wednesday evening.

It happened east of Islington Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m.

According to police, the motorcycle was travelling west when it collided with another vehicle.

“The motorcyclist lost control – he sustained significant injuries,” Toronto police Insp. Richard Hegedus told CP24 at the scene.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has been notified, Hegedus said.

Steeles Avenue was closed from Pine Valley Drive to Islington Avenue for several hours as police investigated. It has since reopened.
