Three men have been charged with first-degree murder after a 43-year-old man was stabbed to death during a violent altercation in Brampton early Monday morning.

Peel Regional Police officers found the victim, Rupie Budhu, outside a home on Skyvalley Drive at about 12:35 a.m. after officers were called about a fight involving several males in the driveway.

Paramedics rushed the Brampton man to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Before the stabbing, Budhu arrived at the home in a taxicab, police spokeswoman Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick said.

The cab driver was not involved in the incident and he is considered a witness, Fitzpatrick told CP24.

She said Budhu lived on the street but he was not a resident of the home where he was killed.

Fitzpatrick was unable to comment on neighbours' claims that people who live on the street were involved in a feud.

Police announced at around 2:40 p.m. that their investigation led to the arrests of three people. Fitzpatrick said officers are not looking for additional suspects in connection with the case.

She said there is no indication the homicide is gang related and there is no reason for people to fear for their safety.

Moses Torrezao, 51, Nicholas Persaud, 18, and Kevin Mahabir, 21, are charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.

They will appear in court Tuesday.

Homicide detectives are investigating and they are asking anyone with information to call the police service's homicide bureau at 905-453-2121 ext. 3205 or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Budhu is Peel Region's second homicide victim of 2014.
