A 25-year-old man who was shot multiple times at a community centre in the city's west end Sunday night has died.
The victim, identified by police as Neeko Mitchell, was rushed to hospital after he was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the North Kipling Community Centre near Kipling Avenue and Finch Avenue at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday. He then succumbed to his injuries sometime overnight.
According to police, witnesses observed several people fleeing the community centre following the shooting.
"Investigators understand that, due to a community event that was occurring at the time of the incident, a large number of people may have been both inside and outside of the community centre/school at the time of the shooting," police said in a press release Monday. "Police would like to speak with anyone who was present or who may have seen the victim prior to or after the shooting."
Suspect descriptions have not been released.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
