A man is in stable condition in a Toronto hospital after he was stabbed in the neck early Monday morning, police say.

The stabbing occurred at a townhouse complex at Military Trail and Morningside Avenue, just north of Ellesmere Road, shortly after 2 a.m.

A police spokesman said the man, who is in his late 40’s, was stabbed with an unknown sharp object and then taken to Sunnybrook hospital, where he underwent surgery.

His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, police told CP24.

The stabbing suspect fled the scene.

Police brought in a canine unit during a search of the neighbourhood, but officers were unable to locate the person.
