A 29-year-old man is currently in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Brampton early Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., officers responded to an address on Leslie Street. At the scene, police found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The 61-year-old victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died a short time later.

Police have not released his name.

In a release issued Tuesday night, police announced that a suspect had been arrested following “an extensive search.”

Jermaine Wood, of Brampton, was arrested for murder. He is being held for a bail hearing and will appear in court Wednesday, police said.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.
