A 34-year-old man was rushed to hospital in serious condition after he was stabbed in the abdomen in Leslieville Friday evening.

Toronto paramedics said they were called to near the intersection of Queen Street East and Logan Avenue at about 5:20 p.m. on Friday.

A staff sergeant with Toronto police's 55 Division said the stabbing took place inside a Value Village store located at 924 Queen Street East.

Police said the victim was stabbed with a steak knife.

They said the man suffered a single stab wound to his abdomen and was rushed to a hospital trauma centre for treatment. He is currently undergoing surgery.

There is no suspect description at this time.
