A 44-year-old man has been banned from riding the subway for 18 months after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a TTC employee.

The incident happened on Aug. 4 at 3:25 p.m. when the man approached a TTC ambassador to ask for help.

The man then “slid his hand in the victim's right pocket and groped her buttocks” before running away, according to a written statement from the Toronto Transit Commission.

The victim reported the incident and transit enforcement officers located a suspect at Dundas Station. He was arrested by Toronto police and charged with sexual assault.

In addition to being banned from riding the subway, Arshad Sajid has been sentenced to 45 days in jail, a $200 fine and $250 restitution to the victim.
