Toronto police are investigating after a man showed up at a downtown hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot early Monday morning.

Police are trying to figure out how the man suffered the injury in an incident that occurred near Sackville and Oak streets, northeast of Dundas and Parliament streets, around 4 a.m.

Officers found at least one shell casing on the ground.

The man went to St. Michael’s Hospital on his own. The hospital is about a kilometre from the scene where he was wounded.

A second person was treated cuts and abrasions, police told CP24.

Toronto police have responded to at least five shooting incidents over the long weekend.
