York Regional Police have released surveillance camera footage of a man who allegedly uttered threats and sexually assaulted a female staff member of a gym in Vaughan on Monday.

At about 4 p.m., police say the suspect was in a gym located near the intersection of Keele Street and Highway 7 in Vaughan. He became agitated and allegedly started verbal altercations with several partrons and gym employees, police said.

At one point, the suspect was seen in surveillance footage climbing atop a stool in the gym’s café area, shouting at others in the room. The suspect eventually dismounted the stool and tossed what police describe as an espresso onto the floor.

Police allege the man said he had a gun and threatened to kill several gym employees and their families. He is also accused of grabbing the buttocks of a female employee. No gun was observed during the encounters.

The suspect then left the facility and headed north on Keele Street on foot.

Staff at the gym called police to track the suspect down but they were unable to do so.

As a result, a warrant has been issued for Marcus Johnson, 26, of Vaughan.

He is facing two counts of uttering threats and one count of sexual assault.

Police say they want the accused to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7441, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
