Tory incumbent Gila Martow tells CP24 that her narrow victory in the riding of Thornhill has been upheld following a judicial recount.

Martow said she was informed of the result on Tuesday following a court hearing in Newmarket in which Justice Peter Tetley heard arguments on a number of disputed ballots.

A spokesperson for Elections Ontario says it cannot confirm the result of the recount until a two-day period for appeals is over.

“I feel good. It has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but I have a great team, we worked together right until the end and we coped,” Martow told CP24 on Tuesday afternoon.

Liberal Sandra Yeung Racco was announced as the winner of the riding on election night, but two days later Elections Ontario ruled that Martow had actually won by the same 85 vote margin, following an official tabulation.

Yeung Racco then requested a recount, which was held on Monday.
