Not to be outdone by the Arlington, Texas parks and recreation department, city staff in Toronto have painted a giant Blue Jays logo onto the grass at Canoe Landing Park along the city’s waterfront.

The massive Blue Jays logo took parks staff 24 hours to complete, and absolutely dwarfs the Texas Rangers logo painted on grass at a park in Texas on Friday:

The Arlington, Texas parks department also wished Toronto a “good hockey season” on Twitter.

Toronto parks, forestry and recreation staff replied with this:

Toronto Mayor John Tory said the giant logo "says to those people down in Arlington that we're not going to be shown up."

"We're going to send the message loud and clear that this city is behind (the Blue Jays). And anything Arlington can do, we can do better."

Tory urged Jays fans to the use the hashtag #WeAreWithYou on Twitter on Sunday to show support for the team.

The Rangers and Jays will play game three of the American League Division Series in Arlington tonight. The game begins at 8:10 p.m.

City of Arlington parks and recreation assistant director Gary Packan said he is "really proud of all of the parks and recreation departments across North America," and said the Rangers logo was just something his crew "threw together at the last minute just like you guys did."

In a more sinister turn, more than 4,000 Jays fans have signed a petition on Change.org, calling on the RCMP to investigate Major League Baseball for conspiring against the club.

They claim the MLB’s refusal to allow the Rogers Centre dome to remain open for Game 1, scheduling the games for prime viewing time in Texas, and examples of what they call bad officiating during the first two games amount to the league attempting to shut the Jays out of the playoffs.
