Art students at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute got some destructive inspiration from above Monday when a chuck of their classroom’s ceiling crashed down under the weight of melting snow.

Video captured in the class shows a chunk of the ceiling lying on the floor below a droopy section of water-stained ceiling.

The Toronto District School Board confirmed in an email that the school’s roof has experienced recent leaking and is slated for repair. The repairs were scheduled to be carried out in February but were postponed due to bad weather and will begin in the coming weeks, the school board said.

Just one or two classes have been affected by the leaky roof, the TDSB said.

While some students were rattled, no one was injured in the incident Monday.

City officials have warned residents to take precautions as melting snow gives way to flowing water with warming temperatures. Highs above 0 C are predicted for the rest of the week, according to Environment Canada. The warming weather follows nearly a full month of frigidly cold temperatures that saw little to no thawing.
