A missing man last spotted in Markham Wednesday morning has been found safe, Toronto police have confirmed.

Minh Muc Ly, 57, was last seen in the Birchmount Road and Highway 407 area shortly before 8 a.m.

Police had originally said he was last seen in Scarborough, but later corrected the location.

Speaking with CP24 Wednesday night, Toronto police Staff Sgt. Andrew Ecklund said that investigators had scaled back their search after learning that Ly was dropped off to meet friends earlier in the day.

He was located after being spotted by an officer near a command post set up at Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute, at 200 Fundy Bay Blvd., shortly after 9 p.m.

“We’re just happy he’s safe,” Ecklund said.
