A 21-year-old Mississauga man is facing charges following an afternoon bank robbery in Scarborough’s Dorset Park neighbourhood last week.

It happened in the Lawrence Avenue and Kennedy Road area Friday at around 4 p.m.

According to police, a man handed a teller a note demanding money after bypassing other customers inside the branch.

The man also indicted he had a gun, police said.

After receiving an initial amount of money, the man began banging on the counter and demanded more. A struggle ensued after a customer waiting in line grabbed the man, interrupting the robbery.

The struggle between the two continued out into the parking lot until officers arrived and the suspect was arrested.

The intervening customer sustained minor injuries, police said.

A suspect identified as Andre Cardall Hardware is charged with robbery and disguise with intent.

He appeared in court Saturday.
