A man has been rushed to hospital after being shot multiple times in Mississauga Tuesday night.

It happened at a building on North Service Road, east of Camilla Road, at around 8:40 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

The suspect fled the scene following the shooting.

In an update provided shortly after 11 p.m., police said they were looking for a male wearing a hoodie in connection with the incident.

Peel police Const. Rachel Gibbs described the shooting as an “isolated incident,” and said there is currently no threat to public safety.

“Residents can rest assured we are in the area,” she said.

Police continue to investigate with the assistance of canine units.
