The mother of a man gunned down outside a Jamestown townhouse complex last week made a heartfelt plea to her son’s killers Friday afternoon, urging them to turn themselves in.

Suleiman Ali, 26, of Toronto, and Warsame Ali, 26, of Vaughan were shot to death on Jamestown Crescent, near Finch Avenue West and Martin Grove Road, at about 1:20 a.m. last Tuesday.

Police have yet to make any arrests in the case.

“I would like to speak to my son’s murderers directly,” Warsame Ali’s mother Habiba Adan said, looking directly at the camera. “I forgive you for killing my son but want you to surrender yourself to the police. It is the only way you can clear your conscience.”

Police have released few details about Warsame Ali and Suleiman Ali, other than to say they were friends and were not related.

Adan described her son as an “important part of her life”.

“He was a loving son, brother, cousin and nephew,” she said. “We miss him.”

New details emerge

According to Det. Joyce Schertezer, both victims were socializing with three other men on the night of their death and had been in the area “for a number of hours.”

Police are now urging those men, who have not yet been identified, to come forward.

“We are asking those in the company of the deceased prior to their death to come forward and provide us with information,” Schertezer said.

Police are also looking to recover two items of clothing that the victims were seen wearing earlier in the night, but was not present at the crime scene.

The first item is a light blue three-quarter length T-shirt with a small Air Jordan logo on the upper left chest area and two white stripes on the left arm.

The second item is a hooded sweatshirt with the word “VANS” stitched across the chest in large letters.

Shooting was targeted

Though police have not yet determined a motive in the double murder, Schertezer said both victims were targeted.

“This is a densely populated community and with the location of the events and the time somebody heard something and somebody saw something and we want to encourage them to come forward,” she said.
