A City of Toronto road closure is creating headaches for GO bus riders tonight.

The GO bus terminal at Union Station has been closed for a downtown movie shoot.

Initial notice of the road closure was only provided this morning, Metrolinx’s Anne Marie Aikins told CP24 Wednesday night.

“We are going to get everyone home, or to their destination, but we have to do some diversions, since we can’t access the station,” she said.

“We’re going to utilize our train stations to get people to and from their buses.”

Commuters can expect delays as a result, Aikins said.

“I understand traffic is pretty bad downtown. Please be patient with us, and we’ll figure this out.”

As a result, GO bus routes 16, 21, 31, 61, 63, 65, and 71 are currently diverting.

The terminal closure will have the following impact on the routes mentioned above:

16 Hamilton QEW Express Service

• Service will operate as a shuttle service between Hamilton and Aldershot GO where passengers can connect with Lakeshore West train service.

21 Milton & 31 Georgetown

• Service will operate to/from Port Credit where passengers can connect with Lakeshore West train service.

61 Richmond Hill, 63 King City, 65 Newmarket & 71 Stouffville

• Service will operate to/from the York Mills GO bus terminal. Passengers can use their GO fares and PRESTO cards at a manned TTC entrance at Union and York Mills subway stations.

When GO train service stops at 1 a.m., the bus terminal will be reopened for one hour to help move any remaining commuters, GO Transit said.

Full bus service at Union Station is expected to be back to normal for the morning commute Thursday.
