Peel police have charged a 37-year-old man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man in Mississauga Wednesday.

Police responded to an address on Elm Drive, in the area of Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road East, for a report of a suspicious death at around 2 p.m.

At the scene, police located a deceased man. He has since been identified as Ronald William Escott, 59, of no fixed address.

On autopsy determined Escott had suffered ‘physical trauma,’ police said.

In a release issued late Thursday night, police confirmed that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the case.

Jason Hamlyn, of no fixed address, is charged with second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Brampton for a bail hearing Friday.
