Weather:

Expect to see a mix of sun and clouds today with a high of 24 C and a 30 per cent chance of rain. The forecast for the long weekend is similar with slightly warmer temperatures.

Top News Stories:

Tourism Minister Michael Coteau will make an announcement about the revitalization of Ontario Place this morning. Ideas that have been floated around by the Liberals include a concert stage and a public park aimed at making the site a year-round waterfront destination.

An overnight fire destroyed three homes on Minto Street in Leslieville. The houses were under construction and no injuries were reported.

We continue to get reaction to the news that Toronto’s top cop, Chief Bill Blair, will be looking for a new gig when his term ends next April. The Toronto Police Services Board said Wednesday it has decided not to renew his contract.

Traffic:

Dundas Street is closed to traffic between Bathurst Street and University Avenue, while Spadina Avenue is blocked off between Queen and College streets. The closure, due to streetcar track, will last until August 11. These areas will remain open to pedestrians and businesses will be operating as usual.

Entertainment:

The Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival is running until Aug. 3.

The Lego Movie is screening for free in St. James Park at 9 p.m.

Sports:

After defeating the Boston Red Sox 6-1 last night, the Toronto Blue Jays will face the Houston Astros at 8:10 p.m. in Houston.
