Canada Day may be over but there is still plenty going on in the city. Here is all the news you can use as you resume your work week:

Weather:

After a few days of wet weather, the city will finally get something closer to summer today with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 22 C forecast.

Traffic:

The temporary HOV lanes for the Pan American Games remain in effect along the Queen Elizabeth Way, the Gardiner Expressway, Lake Shore Boulevard, Jane Street south of Highway 407 and highways 401, 427 and 404. The lanes are reserved for vehicles with three or more people inside.

News:

A man in his 20s is dead after a stabbing in Pickering early Thursday morning and police are now searching for a grey Honda Civic that was seen fleeing the scene. The stabbing occurred outside a home on Glenanna Road near Brookshire Square at around 2:35 a.m. Three women were taken to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, after a car collided with a transport truck in the city’s west end late Wednesday night.

The accident happened near Albion and Weston roads at around 11:30 p.m. According to paramedics, one of the victims suffered minor injuries while another sustained serious injuries and the third had life-threatening injuries. The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, however he was pronounced dead some time later.

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after crashing into the front of a church in the city’s west end early Thursday morning. According to police, the man drove through the front of the building near Davenport Road and Oakwood Avenue and then took off on foot. There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash.

Events:

Taste of Toronto begins its four-day run at the Fort York National Historic Site. A total of 33 different chefs are participating in the culinary showcase.

The Toronto Fringe Festival continues. A total of 148 shows are scheduled for venues across the city between now and July 12.

Sports:

The Blue Jays look to earn a split of their four-game series with the Boston Red as they take the field at the Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
