The weather appears as though it will cooperate for the official opening of nine public Toronto beaches on Saturday.

Starting this weekend, lifeguards will be on hand at most of the city’s beaches, including Bluffer’s Beach, Centre Island Beach, Cherry Beach, Gibraltar Point Beach, Hanlan’s Point Beach, Kew-Balmy Beach, Ward’s Island Beach, Woodbine Beaches and Sunnyside Beach.

Sunny skies and a daytime high of 20 C is in the forecast Saturday.

With the exception of Marie Curtis, Rouge Beach and Sunnyside Beach, all Toronto beaches are designated Blue Flag Beaches, which requires that the city achieve high water quality and safety standards.

The city says all of its beaches are regularly tested for water quality and the results of these tests are posted online.

Marie Curtis Park Beach will staff lifegaurds starting June 19 and Rouge Beach on June 23.

All beaches will close on September 7.
