Doug Ford says a new book that he wrote with his late brother Rob Ford will “rock the political work and rock the media world” when it hits store shelves in November.

The book, titled ‘Ford Nation: Two Brothers, One Vision—The True Story of the People’s Mayor,’ will be released by HarperCollins on Nov. 22.

According to Ford, the book will tell the untold story of the “greatest mayor this country has ever seen” while “calling out” journalists and politicians who he claims treated his brother unfairly during his mayoral tenure and the crack cocaine scandal that disrupted it.

Proceeds from the book will go to a number of charitable causes, Ford said.

“There is no one that will be untouched when it gets released,” Ford told reporters at a press conference outside his mother’s Etobicoke home on Tuesday. “It’s no holds barred with the media. You are going to be named in here. And there will be no politician safe in the country from the prime minister to the premier to the mayor.”

Book in the works for more than a year

Ford, who served as a city councillor in his late brother’s administration, said the book has been in the works for more than a year and that nothing “has been kept more confidential.”

He said that he has personally spent “endless hours” working on the project and that Rob Ford had an integral role to play in crafting the finished project prior to his death from a rare form of cancer in March.

“He (Rob Ford) finally felt that he could actually speak the truth on certain issues that the media called him out on and that politicians called him out on,” Ford said. “He was feeling good. He was finally saying ‘Hey, we are going to get our story out there.’”

Ford would not disclose anything specific about what will be in the book but said that it will contain “stories that no one has ever heard.”

As well, he said that the book will straighten the record on some things that took place during his brother’s mayoral tenure.

“There were a couple outlets that lied and lied and lied,” he said.

Ford remains committed to seeking office

Ford has been out of politics since losing the mayoral race to John Tory more than two years ago, however he was the co-chair of Raymond Cho’s successful provincial byelection campaign in Scarborough-Rouge River and has been open about his desire to seek some level of office.

Asked about his polticial ambitions on Tuesday, Ford said “As sure as I am standing here I will be running,” however he refused to say what level of office he may seek.

According to a press release from HarperCollins, Rob and Doug Ford “recount their family’s struggles and triumphs” in the new book beginning with the marriage of their parents through to “Rob’s time in the mayor’s office.”
