Toronto Police have apprehended a person in crisis from a TTC bus in North York.

The incident began around noon in the Steeles Avenue and Tangreen Court area, in Toronto’s Newtonbrook neighbourhood.

The bus was disabled, according to Toronto Police Const. Craig Brister.

Initially, there was a report that the bus had been hijacked, but Brister said this was not the case.

Emergency task force officers stormed the bus shortly after 6 p.m. and apprehended the male.

Police later said he was taken to hospital via land ambulance for treatment.

Steeles Avenue between Yonge Street and Hilda Avenuewas closed while officers responded to the scene.
