A male victim has been taken to hospital after being injured with a weapon outside a school in Richmond Hill Friday.

York Regional Police were called to the scene in the parking lot of St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School near Bathurst Street and Shaftsbury Avenue at around 2:20 p.m.

Reports from the scene indicated that one person was stabbed.

One victim was located after police arrived on scene. The extent of his injuries was not clear, but police described them as non-life-threatening.

Police have not provided a suspect description so far.

There was no lockdown in place at the school, police said.
