A Toronto man is dead after being found with gunshot wounds overnight in the Dixon Road and Kipling Avenue area, police say.

Police were called to the area after gunshots were heard at around 12:30 a.m. Residents of a home in the area said they felt their house shake around the same time the shots were heard.

Responding to a rented Range Rover SUV that had crashed into a house on Windsor Road, police found a male driver in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to a trauma centre, where he died of his injuries.

He has since been identified by police as 23-year-old Mohamed Omer.

Police said they could not confirm the exact cause of death until an autopsy is completed.

No other injuries have been reported in connection with the shooting.

Two males were seen running from the scene after the incident, however no information has been provided yet about possible suspects.

Homicide detectives are investigating.
