Police are searching for at least one suspect following a shooting that left one man dead late Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to a house on Symington Avenue, in the Lansdowne Avenue and Davenport Road area, shortly before 6 p.m.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, EMS said. His name has not been released.

Police said the victim was in the house with two other people when he was shot. No one else was injured.

“We’re canvassing the area for any witnesses or video,” Toronto police Insp. Egidio Roseto told reporters at the scene Tuesday night.

Roseto said police canine units called in to aid in the search for a suspect were ultimately unsuccessful.

“Unfortunately, there is just way too much foot traffic here,” he said. “We weren’t able to pick up the scent.”

The homicide unit is currently investigating.

No suspect information has yet been provided by police.
