One man has died after a truck veered across a median and struck a York Region Transit bus head on in Thornhill during the morning rush hour.
The accident happened on Yonge Street at Royal Orchard Boulevard at around 7:30 a.m.
According to police, witnesses reported seeing the truck driving erratically at a high rate of speed immediately prior to the accident.
The 25-year-old male driver of the truck was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the bus and several passengers also suffered minor injuries.
Yonge Street was closed in both directions between Centre Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard for several hours.
It was reopened at around 3:30 p.m.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward.
