The Ontario Provincial Police’s Emergency Response Team has located five canoeists reported missing northeast of Toronto.

According to police, the men set out on a canoe trip on Beaver Creek, just off Highway 62 near Weslemkoon Lake, in Hasting County, early Tuesday afternoon.

The men were reported missing at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday night, police said.

Initial attempts to locate the missing men began last night, but were made difficult by the dense tree cover in the area.

Three of the men were located via helicopter Thursday morning, OPP Sgt. Peter Valiquette confirmed.

Preliminary reports said that the other two men were subsequently located early Thursday afternoon.

There was no initial word on any injuries.
