OPP officers are looking to speak with the driver of a silver or grey Nissan involved in a three vehicle crash that sent one person to hospital with serious injuries on Highway 401 near Avenue Road Wednesday night.

At about 9:30 p.m., police say a 25-year-old male motorcyclist from Vaughan merged onto the 401 from Avenue Road and began to “accelerate at a high rate of speed and was passing on the dividing lines between other vehicles.”

The motorcycle struck the Nissan, and then struck a black BMW before coming to a stop. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said. The driver of the BMW remained at the scene but the driver of the Nissan did not.

The OPP say they need to speak with the driver of the Nissan in order to complete the collision investigation. The vehicle is described as a late model grey or silver car, with damage to its front driver’s side fender and a damaged or missing driver’s side view mirror.

Four collector lanes of Highway 401 were closed until midnight to allow investigators to reconstruct the collision.

Anyone with information about the Nissan or its driver is asked to call the OPP Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122.
