Toronto police are investigating a stabbing that took place overnight in Scarborough's Birch Cliff neighbourhood.

The stabbing happened in front of a home on Birchcliff Avenue at around 3:15 a.m.

The victim, who is reportedly in his 20s, suffered injuries to his abdomen area when someone attacked him with a beer bottle.

Police at 41 Division told CP24 Saturday morning that there are no suspects currently in custody.

Meanwhile, Toronto police are investigating a separate incident overnight in the city's west end that sent one person to hospital and caused minor injuries to a police officer.

A driver of a car refused to pull over for police, leading officers on a short pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop after it crashed into a taxi near Dundas Street and Highway 427.

There were no injuries to the driver of the taxi or his passenger but an occupant of the car that gave chase was sent to hospital via ambulance.

Another person in that car was taken into police custody.

A police officer suffered minor injuries but was treated at the scene.
