Halton Regional Police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a GO train in Burlington on Thursday morning.

The pedestrian was hit by an eastbound train just west of a rail crossing on Burloak Drive, shortly before 6 a.m. The crossing is south of Harvester Road and east of Appleby GO Station.

Because of the collision, GO Transit suspended Lakeshore West train service between Hamilton GO Centre and Oakville GO Station until about 8:30 a.m., and cancelled some train trips on the Lakeshore East and Kitchener lines.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call investigators at 905-825-4747 ext. 5142 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1 800 222-TIPS (8477).
