OAKVILLE, Ont. -- Halton regional police say a trespassing pedestrian was struck and killed by a GO train Sunday morning in Oakville, west of Toronto.

Police say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. when a westbound GO train was near Third Line on the CNR line in Oakville.

About 80 to 100 passengers were on the train and all were able to disembark at the Bronte GO Station.

No injuries were reported among the passengers or the three-member crew.

Train service was shut down briefly on the line but no other delays were expected.

The Halton police collision reconstruction unit is investigating, along with CN police and GO Transit safety officers.
