Toronto police evacuated a plaza in the city’s west end Saturday after a suspect in a bank robbery allegedly uttered a bomb threat while being arrested.

Officers responded to the TD Bank branch at Wincott Drive and Eglinton Avenue West around 3 p.m.

The robbery was interrupted and a suspect was arrested. However police said the suspect uttered a bomb threat after being taken into custody.

Police evacuated the plaza where the branch is located as a precaution and set up a perimeter while they ensured that there were no explosives in the area.

Police cleared the scene shortly after 7 p.m. after determining there was no danger.

No injuries were reported.
