Police are appealing to the public for information after a man broke into a home in the city’s east end, stole some jewellery and emptied an urn containing the ashes of an elderly woman’s dead husband.

According to police, the suspect entered the rear window of the home in the Neville Park Boulevard and Queen Street East area at around 4 p.m. on Monday.

The suspect then allegedly ransacked several bedrooms. Police say they believe the suspect emptied the urn as he searched for valuables.

The suspect is described as bald, between 30 and 35-years-old, about five-foot-six and 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black suit and sunglasses.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a 2011 or 2012 gold Chevrolet Silverado 3500 series with an aftermarket exhaust, a crew cab and a pintle hitch with running boards. The vehicle has "Chevrolet" written in block letters on both sides at the base of the doors. The windows are heavily tinted with "Chevrolet" written in block letters on the rear window.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (416) 808-5500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (416) 222-TIPS (8477).
