A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after an armed robbery of a convenience store in the city’s Dovercourt Park neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a suspect entered a convenience store in the Bloor Street and Dovercourt Road area at around 3 p.m.

The suspects is alleged to have then produced a handgun and walked behind the counter, where he robbed a clerk before fleeing the store.

Police say the 16-year-old boy was arrested at his home a short time after the robbery.

During the course of the boy’s arrest, police seized drugs, a firearm and a number of items that were taken during the course of the robbery.

The suspect, who cannot be identified under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing 10 charges, including robbery while armed with a firearm.
