A 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy are both facing charges after a North York bank was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend.

Police say that two masked suspects, one of them armed with a gun, entered a bank in the Yonge Street and Highway 401 area at around 3:25 p.m. on Saturday and proceeded to demand cash.

The suspects then fled in a car but were observed getting into the vehicle by an off-duty cop that reported his observations.

With that information in hand, police say officers located the vehicle in Ajax at around 4:50 p.m. and arrested the 19-year-old driver.

On Tuesday afternoon officers then recognized the second suspect at a theatre in the Highway 404 and Sheppard Avenue East area and took him into custody.

The suspect was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest, according to police, and was awaiting sentencing on five other robbery convictions.

Jacob Frantzen, 19, of Ajax, is charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent while the 15-year-old boy is charged with 12 offences, including armed robbery and robbery with face disguised.
