Toronto police have identified two men killed in a double shooting that occurred in the city’s east end Wednesday night.

In a release issued Thursday afternoon, police identified the victims as 21-year-old Jonathan Stefan Khan and 22-year-old Shawn Chestnut-Reddick, both of Toronto.

The victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds when at least one person opened fire on Danforth Avenue, east of Woodbine Avenue, at about 8:45 p.m.

The men were shot as they stood on the sidewalk in front of a vacant storefront that has apartments above it.

Paramedics rushed the men to hospital, where one was pronounced dead shortly after arriving and the other died early Thursday morning, police spokesman Const. Victor Kwong said.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Friday.

A Toronto EMS spokesperson said both victims were shot in the chest.

No one has been arrested.

Kwong said a potential suspect may have fled in a vehicle that was last seen heading east on Danforth Avenue.

Homicide detectives are investigating.
