A 20-year-old man wanted in connection with a stabbing that left one man dead and another injured in a Vaughan parking lot early Sunday morning has been arrested.

York Regional Police were called to the lot on Interchange Way, near Highway 400 and Highway 7, at around 3 a.m.

According to police, two people were stabbed during an altercation between two groups of people.

One man died of his injuries at the scene. In a release Monday afternoon, police identified the victim as 22-year-old Gianluca Cellucci, of Richmond Hill.

The second victim, also 22 years old, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive.

In Monday’s release, investigators identified a suspect sought in connection with the stabbings. In a subsequent release, issued roughly an hour later, police confirmed that the suspect had been arrested.

Nick Bagherzadeh, 20, of Richmond Hill, was arrested without incident in Toronto.

“He will be charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder,” police said.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 866-876-5423 ext. 7865 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
