Toronto police have identified the man who was shot to death in the city’s west end Monday night as 24-year-old Olatoyebi Waheed.
Police say Waheed and another man were travelling southbound in a car on Jane Street north of Eglinton Avenue West shortly before 7 p.m. Monday night when they were stopped at a red light.
According to police, a lone gunman approached the vehicle from behind and fired several rounds into the driver’s side of the car.
Waheed was pronounced dead at the scene and the second victim was taken to hospital in serious condition.
Investigators told CP24 that the shooting was likely a “targeted act” and both victims are known to police.
Police say they have recovered a vehicle believed to have been used during the shooting.
