Police homicide detectives have identified an 18-year-old woman found dead in Scarborough’s L’Amoureaux neighbourhood on Friday.

Police say they were called to 3275 Sheppard Avenue East at about 1:15 p.m. on Friday for a report of a woman was unconscious and not breathing.

Simone “Shanni” Reid was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination has been completed but investigators are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

Acting Sgt. Susan Gomes says Reid did not show up at school that day, and school friends went to the apartment she shared with her father to check up on her.

Investigators are looking for the public’s help to locate the victim’s father so they can notify him of his daughter’s death.

"We believe her father would have been the last person or one of the last people that was with her in the apartment during the evening hours," Gomes said.

He is 49-year-old Winston “Paul” Reid of Toronto. Police say he may be driving a blue 2003 Toyota Sienna minivan, license plate BKSK 765. Gomes says Winston is not considered a suspect at this time.

A news conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday evening, where police will update the media on their progress in the investigation.
