Police in Jamaica have confirmed that a person of interest that was being sought in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old Toronto boy has turned himself in for questioning.

Ricardo Williams was attending a wake in Kingston on Sunday afternoon when he was shot. The Scarborough boy, whose mother lives in Jamaica, was rushed to hospital following the shooting but was pronounced dead some time later.

Police had been looking for Omar James, also known as ‘Judge,’ in connection with the homicide but on Tuesday Hunts Bay Police confirmed that James surrendered on Monday evening.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force Williams and James did know each other.

Their relationship, however, has not been disclosed.

Charges have not yet been filed against James.
