Homicide detectives are investigating a 'suspicious death' after the body of a woman was found in a burned-out garage on Monday night.
Crews responded to a fire at 1164 Pebblestone Cres. in Pickering shortly before 8 p.m. Monday and found a two-car garage fully engulfed in flames.
When the fire was extinguished, the body of a woman was found in the garage.
A post-mortem examination on the body was conducted on Tuesday and Durham Regional Police’s homicide unit is investigating. Police expect to be able to determine the cause of death and the identity of the woman later today.
The Ontario Fire Marshall's office is also assisting in the investigation.
